Six months ago, I joined Pythian as a Global Talent Acquisition Partner (TA). I often get asked by candidates why I chose Pythian and what my experiences have been like so far.
So, here’s the scoop straight from the front end!
Why I Chose Pythian
I was first captivated by our #LoveYourData tagline, which is simple yet powerful. Because I have a passion for recruitment, being in an organization filled with people who are excited and driven by what they do is vitally important to me. The excitement our employees have for data solutions and cloud transformations transcends into recruitment–it’s the fuel that drives me to source like-minded top talent to join our teams on their journey to success.
Customers First, People Always
Since we have a strong commitment to our customers’ success, we set the bar high when it comes to talent. It’s well established at Pythian that success starts with our people. Talent acquisition is, therefore, recognized as a key driver of that success. I’m so proud to be able to make a direct positive impact on the business through the hiring of top talent.
Part of our employees’ success lies in how our “People Always” approach is at the forefront of our programs and initiatives. Our HR team is continually seeking creative and meaningful ways to improve the engagement, support and growth of our employee population. That’s why we have multiple channels for employees to voice their thoughts and ideas: employee engagement surveys, employee advisory groups, “Ask Me Anything” sessions with our executive teams and open questions at our monthly All-hands meetings. This results in a culture of supportive, constructive and transparent communication for all employees.
Collaboration and relationships
To have successful talent acquisition there needs to be trust, communication, agility and strategy–all of which I can confidently say I’ve experienced with my hiring teams when filling certain critical roles for the business. So, during my interviews, I made sure to have meaningful conversations with key stakeholders with whom I could see myself building strong, collaborative relationships.
Embracing out-of-the-box thinking and being open to new recruitment strategies are imperative for attracting the best talent in the market. Pythian encourages innovative thinking, pushing the envelope and approaching situations from new or different perspectives. This keeps my role fresh, challenging, exciting and fun!
To find the best talent as a TA partner, I need to understand our business strategy and direction, what we offer and how we offer it. I need to speak with confidence and competence to candidates, providing them with the information they need to be able to make the best decision for themselves in terms of their next career move.
Pythian is a workplace that has supported remote work long before it was trendy or necessary. We’re a well-oiled machine when it comes to knowledge sharing. We not only have multiple options for internal communication, but also hold weekly Newsflash updates and have a highly robust onboarding process. My knowledge of Pythian and all it has to offer as a result stays current, which is vital to my success in talent acquisition.
I love my job but I also love my family, my friends and my hobbies. Being part of an organization that not only understands but appreciates and celebrates the importance of life outside of work is invaluable. For example, we have internal communities, interest groups and these still allow for flexible working hours. This balance allows me to give the best part of myself to my role, my hiring teams and candidates.
