DBAs Differ on Oracle’s Automation Efforts

Although many are eagerly anticipating Oracle Database 10g release 2, some pros feel the new automated features will only create more work in the long run.

A group of DBAs got a preview of the new 10g release 2 at the IOUG conference in Orlando. Reponses ranged from excitement to trepidation. “Every time we see a new tool come out, we end up having to figure out how to fix the tool,” said Ron LaShaw, a DBA with Wachovia Bank in Burlington, N.C. “It will just create new work for the DBA.” read article.
