“Mastering Oracle Trace Data” by Cary Millsap

Posted in: Technical Track

My good friend (and personal hero) Cary Millsap is doing a series of one day classes around the world — Mastering Oracle Trace Data. One of them is conveniently scheduled in Birmingham Thursday next week right after the UKOUG Conference.

It’s not far from the Birmingham ICC where the UKOUG Technology and Business Suite Conference 2011 is happening next week. This means that if you are attending the conference, all you need to take advantage of this unique opportunity is to stay one day longer and pay a very modest fee. Contact UKOUG for a special 20% discount code — if you can’t reach them during the conference, let me know and I can help. With this discount, if will cost you only 500 USD which is like 300 quid.

So what do you get for this?

  • Admission to the one-day course
  • A copy of Mastering Oracle Trace Data, by Cary Millsap
  • A limited license for Method R Trace, the zero-click trace file collector for Oracle SQL Developer
  • A limited license for Method R Tools, the premiere software for trace file mining, management, and manipulation
  • An exclusive Method R “I can help you trace it” T-shirt

Few of Pythian folks are attending. I will be there myself!

This what Cary writes about it. But hey, read for yourself what the course is like:
from Doug Burns
from Norman Dunbar
I expect the next update from you. Eh? ;)

I also wrote a pretty good write up on Oracle-L a while back on the London course. I think Cary was going to put it on the “testimonials” page on the Method-R website, so I must have said good things!

Overall, it’s a great course and the handouts are excellent. I’ve read the book a couple of tiomes now, once on the traing home to Leeds, and since then, a couple of chapters at bath time!

Cheers,
Norm. (AKA Rory Bremner – see comments on Doug’s site!)
