MySQL inks $1M deal – anyone know more details?

Posted in: MySQL, Technical Track

Big insider news on James Governor’s blog. If you don’t know who James Governor and Redmonk are, you should. They are giving the bigwigs (Gartner, IDC, Forrester et alia) a run for their money in technology analysis.

Anyway, the news is this, and the details are very sketchy:

  • MySQL has signed a million euro deal
  • The client is a “European Telco”
  • James lists his source as Zack Urlocker, EVP (Products) for MySQL AB.

So, I’m hungry for details. Does anyone know exactly what mix of products, support services and customization/bespoke services are changing hands for that kind of coin?

Cheers
Paul

let me ask zack if we can get some details. i have a feeling the telco in question may want to keep their name secret for the time being, but perhaps we can fill out some detail of the service/product mix. given MySQL offers a universal enterprise support offering for $40k, the 1m figure is quite a delta.
