Oracle Hires Ex-Microsoft CFO as President and Finance Chief

Posted in: Technical Track

Oracle has brought in former Microsoft CFO Greg Maffei to take on the role of President and CFO. From 1997 to 2000 Maffei oversaw a period of expansion and investment at Microsoft including a fourfold increase in the company’s market capitalization and large investments. Most recently he held the title of Chairman and CEO at the Seattle-based fiber-optic networking company 360Networks where he restructured the company and paid off its debt.

Maffei will be joining Oracle as the company adjusts to its recent acquisition frenzy. In addition to Maffei, Oracle employs two other presidents who report to CEO Larry Ellison. Safra Catz handles business development, and Charles Phillips works on customer relations.
