Oracle Promises to Support You

Oracle is improving its support services. New CIO David Thompson announced at the IOUG Live 2005 database user event this week that the company will be stepping up its maintenance policies. He highlighted new features such as live web conferencing to Oracle’s online support offering, Metalink. Metalink will also inlude new content features like live product demonstrations, tips and tricks, and an improved search engine. And Oracle will support each release of its database and Oracle applications server for five years, beginning with versions 9.2 and 10.1.2 respectively.

Users at the IOUG event were optimistic, but some remained concerned over the way Oracle manages its patches and security fixes. read article.
