CHAIRMAN WON’T RULE OUT ANOTHER HOSTILE TAKEOVER

Months after its recent hostile takoever of PeopleSoft, Oracle claims it is ready to go after another large company should the opportunity arise. According to Oracle Chariman Jeffery Henley, Oracle would “prefer never to do a hostile one again, ” but it remains an option if the company felt a takeover was an important strategic move.

Henley added, “It’s very important for people to understand we are not struggling. We are ready to rumble now.” As of February Oracle had a “war chest” of $9 billion in cash, which could be put toward future acquisitions.
