SAP Seals Microsoft Deal to Fight Oracle

Posted in: Technical Track

In what appears to be another attack on the Oracle business, SAP and Microsoft have announced an alliance to co-develop products. A new product set, codenamed Mendocino, was revealed at the European SAPPHIRE conference. It will extend SAP’s business processes into Microsoft Office applications, and is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of this year.

In addition to the Microsoft deal and the SAP-Optimized IBM DB2 database, SAP announced a global alliance with Siemens and the integration of Macromedia developer technology into SAP.
