Last Thursday I spent in Melbourne presenting two of my papers for Australian Oracle User Group Victorian members. I received a very warm welcome in that beautiful city.
The first part of the day I spent in one many coffee shops, enjoying fantastic coffee, working and watching how the stream of people changes during the day. I wonder how it is possible that Australia’s two biggest cities are so different! The difference is quite difficult to describe. You should visit these sites to feel it yourself!
At second half of the day it was my pleasure to meet several Oracle DBAs and present for AUSOUG members. 25 people took part in the meeting! I should say that it was one of the best audiences I have presented for over the last few months! I received several good questions and we have a very good follow up discussion.
Thanks to Tony Jambu (AUSOUG Victorian branch committee member), Barbara Rabinowicz (AUSOUG Victorian branch president) and AUSOUG-Victorian team the meeting was very well organized. We had two 1 hour sessions with a break for beer, wine and pizza kindly provided by AUSOUG. Well done organizers!
BTW: Victorian AUSOUG does welcome technical speakers. If you are in Australia or close and have presented some technical Oracle related presentations before or are considering presenting I would strongly suggest you to get in touch with Tony or Barbara. I am sure they would love to invite you to present in that beautiful City. If you are not sure why you should participate I would suggest you to read the following blog post “Why you should submit a paper for an Oracle User Group event“. Speaking for local Oracle User Group may be a very good step towards being accepted for bigger Oracle related conferences. Plus to all the benefits how cool it is to get the feedback like the following:
================================================ From: Tony Jambu @Wizard to me, committee.vic Subject: Thanks you from AUSOUG-VIC show details Sep 15 (4 days ago) Hi Yury I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your company for your presentation to the Victorian AUSOUG members this evening. It was a most successful and informative evening. We have not had this high number of DBAs attend our monthly meeting in a long time. We had close to 25 members there. The comments I received were: - very good - excellent - this is what the old user group meeting used to be like - can we have more 'real' /core DBA topics like tonight’ You obviously made a good impression with members with your presentation. On behalf of the Victorian members, I would like to thank you and your company for your support of the user group and the trouble you went through to fly in and out on the same day to present. Again, thank you. regards tony ================================================
So … Don’t think! Just get in touch with Tony/Barbara and volunteer to share your experience with Victorian AUSOUG community! I am sure you will enjoy it!
